About Us
Helena Lim and Sharon Lim (who are not sisters), are foodies who learned how to run a restaurant at their first venture, Epicurious, at Robertson Quay. Their hands on approach means they are always either at Persimmon or Epicurious overseeing operations and entertaining customers.
Helena
Helena compares herself to a starter from the Persimmon menu; Eggplant fritters with caponata sauce. They’re crispy on the the outside protecting a soft interior and the caponata sauce balances a mix of sweet, sour & savoury ingredients.
She wanted to bring a modern stylish environment to eat the food that you can normally only get in hot, smelly hawker centres or in the sterile mall food courts.
Sharon
Sharon is a lawyer-turned actor-turned restaurateur, all careers filled with drama and high tension, but what has endured throughout is her love of food.
Sharon’s particular love of all food Singaporean stems from a childhood filled with food lovingly prepared by her mother, grandmother and aunts – all gifted cooks. The acutely-felt loss of these yummy edibles during her years in boarding school in England led to her to experiment as best she could with canned coconut milk and freeze-dried pandan leaves, all she could find in the Chinese supermarkets of Soho.
Now back in Singapore, she’s able to indulge in Singaporean dishes to her hearts’ content. However, now the dishes of Persimmon are informed with the European experiences coupled with the great cuisine of her home.
